About the treatment

Understanding double chin

Genetics, weight gain and age lead to the development of an additional fold under the chin – this is known as a ‘double chin’. The double chin can lead individuals to choose a traditional surgical facelift, which results in an extended ‘downtime’ and associated permanent scarring.

At Bella Plastic Surgery we offer an alternative non-surgical treatment focuses on ‘concealing’ the double chin, and provide a more well-defined lower jawline.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Double chin treatment

+

Our non-surgical treatment involves the precise placement of high-quality products into the chin and lower facial areas. We assess your facial characteristics and take a non-surgical approach, to address your concerns.

Our techniques will aim to conceal the unwanted fold under the chin and provide a more well-structured and more contoured lower face.

What type of products are used?

+

There are a range of products, that contain different consistencies which are often broken down into three main categories: –

  • Thin products – designed to last 3-6 months
  • Mid-range products – designed to last 9-12 months
  • Semi-permanent products – designed to last 18-24 months

These products are made from complex sugar molecules that naturally occur in your body and bind with water to support your skin and increase volume.

At Bella Plastic Surgery, we use only the highest quality products to achieve long-lasting results.

When can i expect results?

+

Results can be seen immediately following your treatment. You can expect to see the extra fold under the chin has become less visible and a strengthened and more well-defined jawline.

It is important to note than more than one treatment will be required to achieve the desired result.

How long does the treatment take?

+

This treatment generally takes one and a half hours, including 30 minutes to complete the patient registration form and receive a consultation regarding your treatment.

Does it hurt?

+

Before your treatment, topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to alleviate discomfort. In addition, we can provide local anesthetic via needle, to the area, prior to treatment.

How long to results last?

+

The Double Chin treatment is customised to meet the individual aesthetic goals of each patient and typically will last 18–24 months. With that said, we often find the treatment results can last five years, and in some cases, even longer.

What is the recovery time?

+

Following the procedure, there is usually some transient redness and swelling, which will dissipate in a few days. Depending on the skin sensitivity of the patient, there may also be some bruising, which usually takes a week or two to clear. Makeup can be worn after 24 hours post-treatment, and we will recommend the best types of makeup to use.
