During a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty), the excess skin around your stomach is removed with a single major incision below the underwear line. A Tummy Tuck is (amongst other things) removing excess skin of the abdominal wall. Usually, a standard Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) is all that’s required to achieve that. However, sometimes so much excess skin exists that a different technique and scar pattern is required to optimally reconstruct the abdominal wall. A Fleur De Lis Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) is an extension of a standard Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) and is suitable for patients with significant excess skin up and down and side to side along the lower abdominal wall. To reconstruct this, in addition to the lower abdominal wall incision of a standard Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty), an additional incision is made along the entire midline of the abdomen up to the lower chest. This allows the removal of excess skin along the sides to help bring in the waistline – tightening the abdominal wall both vertically and horizontally.
