Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What are marionette folds?

+

Marionette folds (also known as puppet lines), are the folds/creases, that extend from the corners of the mouth, down to the chin. As we age, there is a loss of skin elasticity collagen and fat in the face – this can lead to the marionette folds becoming more prominent. In addition, other factors that can contribute to the formation of marionette folds can include genetics, sun exposure, lifestyle habits such as smoking and repetitive facial expressions. However, various non-surgical treatments such as light therapy and volumising products, can help to reduce the appearance of marionette folds, increase hydration in the skin and improve the overall appearance of the skin.

Marionette folds treatment

+

At Bella Plastic Surgery, we offer a range of non-invasive, non-surgical procedures that aim to reduce the appearance of marionette folds. One of the most common sought-after treatments involves the use of volumising products that are used to ‘conceal’ marionette folds, providing immediate results that are visible at the time of treatment.

What type of products are used?

+

There are a range of products, that contain different consistencies which are often broken down into three main categories: –

  • Thin products – designed to last 3-6 months
  • Mid-range products – designed to last 9-12 months
  • Semi-permanent products – designed to last 18-24 months

These products are made from complex sugar molecules that naturally occur in your body and bind with water to support your skin and increase volume.

At Bella Plastic Surgery, we use only the highest quality products to achieve long-lasting results.

How long do the results last?

+

Your results will typically last two-three years however, there can depend on the type of product being used, among other factors.

What is the recovery time?

+

You may experience some minor swelling and bruising on and around the treated area. Following your procedure, you can apply makeup 24 hours following your treatment; to conceal bruising and we will recommend the best types of make-up to use.
